For The Sake Of Your Future And Your Next Generation’s, Do Not Support Politicians Who Support CECA #abolishCECA Singapore was already a rising financial center in the 80s and 90s. If my memory serves me correct, we ranked only after Tokyo and Hong Kong In importance even in those days.  So yes I am incensed when this PAP Government tells us that we do not have enough talent in banking and we have to allow large numbers of foreigners to come in and take up the plum jobs in the banking and financial sectors. I have seen pictures of whole departments of banks in Singapore being dominated by people who originate from one foreign country.  What has the government been doing for the last 30 years to groom our Singaporean talent to fill the TOP jobs in banking and finance?  I find it incredulous also when industry figures can put up a straight face and want us to believe that the TOP Bankers in the world happen to originate from that country. My common sense tells me that is nonsense when th

Facebook post by Kok Ming Cheang: Is CECA a Pandora Box that cannot be opened?

[The metaphor of Pandora Box originated from a story in Ancient Greece about a beautiful and happy girl named Pandora, who received a wedding gift in a box  that must never be opened. As the story went, she opened the box out of curiosity and released death, evil and misery into the world. In modern language, it refers to the source of endless complications or trouble if the box is opened.] Is CECA a Pandora Box that the government fears to open?  CECA (Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Agreement) is a FTA signed between India and Singapore in 2005. Out of the 26 FTAs that Singapore has signed with foreign countries, CECA is the most contentious of all. Few people knew or understood CECA until quite recently. But there was increasing unhappiness as the foreign population grows with one nationality becoming more prominent in Changi Business Park, Marina Bay Sand Financial Centre and on public transport. They are clearly here for work and competing for the same jobs with Singaporeans in

Please help me to understand the roles and purposes of an Exim Smarthost

Subject: Please help me to understand the roles and purposes of an Exim Smarthost Good day from Singapore, Recently, I could not send out emails to a recipient domain from a CentOS 7.9 Linux server using the mail command. This Linux server has cPanel web hosting control panel installed with Exim as its SMTP outgoing mail server. My boss said that the Exchange server in the same private internal network was rejecting emails from the Linux server because the emails were marked as spam. He told me I would need to configure Exim SMTP server to relay emails to the Exchange server in the same private internal network. The recipient domain is hosted in the Exchange server. Please read below for the Exim Smarthost which my boss had configured. I still do not fully understand the roles and purposes of a smarthost. Please help me to understand it. Thank you very much. Modify Exim configuration file. # nano /etc/exim.conf Under the section ROUTERS CONFIGURATION, add the following lines. static_ro

Facebook post by Weixiang Schrodinger Lim: Interview of Dr. Tan Cheng Bock

Image
Now that everything is done and dusted, I can finally share these pics. My #ge2020 coverage for Mothership.sg this time round started with this interview with Dr Tan Cheng Bock  After the interview, during a casual chat, Doc actually broke down in tears, when he was trying to answer the question as to why at age 80 and in the last lap of his life, he was entering the bruising arena of opposition politics.  His reply: “Sometimes at night I can’t sleep because I worry for our country.” before he started tearing up. I did not share these photos during the campaigning period because I didn’t want people to think he was putting on a display to gain sympathy. Thank you Doc for fighting a good fight. Have a good rest and stay healthy!

Facebook post by Constance Chew: Tribute to Lim Chin Siong

Below is the oration of Dr Lim Hock Siew at Mr Lim Chin Siong’s cremation on the morning of 9 February 1996 at Mt Vernon, Singapore. The funeral was attended by about two thousand relatives and friends. The hall was jam-packed and many had to stand at the entrance and on the grounds around the building.  Some of those attending had flown in from Malaysia. Dr Lim Hock Siew, a natural orator, ended his rousing speech with a call for a standing ovation to bid Chin Siong a hero’s farewell.  The response was thunderous as the prolonged clapping rose to a crescendo  with the moving of Chin Siong’s body away from the  hall to the incineration chamber.  TRIBUTE TO LIM CHIN SIONG On the evening of 5 February this year (1996), a most humane and valiant heart stopped beating – Chin Siong left this mortal world. Friends, comrades, before us lies the body of not an ordinary person. Chin Siong is a hero – a national hero – a legend in the glorious history of our people’s struggle for freedom and soc
