I solved a problem with Microsoft Exchange email server not able to send out external emails today

Today 18 December 2020 Friday, our client in Singapore reported they were not able to send out external emails. I launched Exchange Toolbox on the Exchange server to examine the mail queue. Exchange Toolbox reported:


Exchange can't connect to the Microsoft Exchange Transport service on computer "exchange.teo-en-ming-corp.com.sg". Verify that the service is started. It was running the command 'get-queue -ResultSize '1000' -ReturnPageInfo $true -SortOrder '+NextHopDomain' -SearchForward $true -BookmarkObject $null -BookmarkIndex '-1' -IncludeBookmark $false -server 'exchange.teo-en-ming-corp.com.sg'.


Upon seeing the above error message, I launched services.msc and observed that Microsoft Exchange Transport service was not running. I proceeded to start the Microsoft Exchange Transport service. Thereafter, our client was able to send external emails again.


I have solved the problem.
