I encountered Inaccessible Boot Device BSOD error on my refurbished HP Elitebook 840 G1 laptop

My refurbished HP Elitebook 840 G1 laptop came with Windows 10 Pro version 1803.

After buying it and going home, I formatted my laptop and installed Windows 10 Pro version 20H2. Within a few minutes, my laptop froze. I tried to reboot my laptop numerous times but I keep getting BSOD with Inaccessible Boot Device error. I thought the 500 GB harddisk on my refurbished HP Elitebook 840 G1 laptop suddenly became faulty but this is not so.

I formatted my laptop again but this time I installed Windows 10 Pro version 1809, an older version. I no longer get Inaccessible Boot Device BSOD error. SMART check and Short Drive Self Test shows that my refurbished 500 GB harddisk is in working condition.

I pay the penalty of being too up to date with Windows 10.
