Subject: Solution to Blank Screen in Output Video During Screen Recording in OBS Studio for Fedora Workstation 33 Linux


Good day from Singapore,


My laptop is a refurbished HP Elitebook 840 G1 installed with Fedora Workstation 33 Linux 64-bit.


My integrated VGA cards are:


[teo-en-ming@localhost ~]$ lspci | grep VGA

00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Haswell-ULT Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 0b)

03:00.0 VGA compatible controller: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. [AMD/ATI] Mars [Radeon HD 8730M]


When I do screen recording in OBS Studio, the output video shows a blank screen.


I have solved this problem by doing the following few steps.


$ sudo nano /etc/gdm/custom.conf 


Uncommment the following line.


#WaylandEnable=false


Save the file.


Reboot your laptop.


You should now be able to do screen recording in OBS Studio without blank screen in the output video. It is this simple.
