Configuring VLANs in the Fortigate 60D Firewall
===============================================
1. Configure an Internal (LAN) interface with ports 3, 4, 6 and 7 as its members.
2. The decision to use ports 3, 4, 6, and 7 as members of the Internal interface is arbitrary. The Fortigate 60D firewall has 7x 1GbE ports.
3. Create VLAN 10 (subnet 192.168.10.1/255.255.255.0) riding on the Internal interface. Turn on DHCP Server for this VLAN.
4. Create VLAN 20 (subnet 192.168.20.1/255.255.255.0) riding on the Internal interface. Turn on DHCP Server for this VLAN.
5. It appears every port on the Internal interface of the Fortigate 60D firewall is a trunk port, because every port could carry VLAN 10 and 20.
Configuring VLANs in the 3COM Baseline 2920 Managed Switch
==========================================================
1. Configure Port 1 on the 3COM switch as a trunk port carrying VLAN 10 and 20 (tagged).
2. Connect Port 1 on the 3COM switch to any port of the internal interface of the Fortigate 60D firewall using a LAN cable. Both the Fortigate 60D firewall and the 3COM managed switch are now connected by a trunk.
3. Configure Port 10 on the 3COM switch as an access port carrying VLAN 10 (untagged).
4. Configure Port 16 on the 3COM switch as an access port carrying VLAN 20 (untagged).
5. As an alternative to steps 3 and 4 above, you could also configure Port 10 as a trunk port carrying VLAN 10 and VLAN 20 (tagged). In this case, you can leave Port 16 alone. There is no need to configure Port 16.
